Jael's journey continues

This is the sequel to Dagger's Edge, in which Jael finds out the truth about her heritage while dealing with the crisis a religious cult brings on Allanmere, the city of which she is a princess. Now, one of her siblings has been chosen as heir, and Jael is free to do as she wishes. Inspired by her "Aunt" Shadow's wandering ways and her own desire to come to terms with her exotic heritage, Jael sets out on a journey for the furthest anyone from Allanmere has ever been... to the place where her father is from. Tanis, her best friend, insists on going with her, and the mysterious assassin Blade gives her a request as well. (If you can call it a "request".) But Jael is determined to make it on her own terms and discover who she really is, no matter what. Unfortunately it's a wide, harsh world they live in, and traveling through it is no easy task. Then there's the fact that Jael has no idea how welcoming her father's people will be, what her father will be like, or what challenges she will face in order to find the piece of herself that she needs. Does she have the courage and perseverance to make it that far? It would be hard for any book to replace Dagger's Edge in my heart anyway, but I don't feel that this book is as good as the first. There's some good character development of Jael and Tanis, with the difficult relationship developing between them, and seeing more of Anne Logston's magical medieval world is interesting, but there just isn't as much charm to this novel as the one before. Still, if you liked the first, I'd recommend reading this one. There are plenty of memorable moments, and you get to see Jael growing up while she and Tanis weather the ups and downs of their somewhat pell-mell journey.

Cool

I really enjoyed this book when I was younger, I've been trying to find it in stores. It's out of print, but it really should be reprinted. It's a good book for teens who like fantasy novels.

I love this book!! Thou shalt read!! Now!!

I really enjoyed this book. It made me feel as if I was right there with Jaycllyn enjoying the story. I have not read the Shadow books yet, and am *very much* looking forward to. Enjoy, my book buddies!!
