Harvey Chernosky began telling bedtime stories in the early 1970s with the idea of teaching his children lessons in life. His story of "The Rabbit and the Road" cautioned his son and daughter to avoid the busy road upon which they lived. It was only when his grandchildren began begging for bedtime stories that he expanded his repertoire to include tales about stuffed animals and eating candy. He continues to relate mini-adventures which delight the girls and delay the inevitable, "now go to sleep."
