CyberSapien: Book 2 of the CyberLife Series

CyberSapien is the second book of the CyberLife series: a comical and philosophical fictional story about living in a world fully immersed in interactive, intelligent, and rapidly evolving informational technologies, laughingly referred to as the "Knowledge Age." The year is 2110. It's been a year since Jim and Laura became business partners; and after a very short engagement, are now married. For 40-year-old Jim, it was a big transition: from a wise-cracking front-line Knowledge Architect to a wise-cracking hiking store co-owner. But it's about to get bigger. SciPop, along with VertaLife, have a new product coming out: a CyberSapien, an exact digital copy of a living person designed to operate in a Quantum Network. And unknown to Jim, he's been copied. CyberSapien Jim, nicknamed Murph, is the first production model of planned billions of CyberSapiens and needs to be tested in the real-world before mass production begins. Murph lives in the newly created Q-Sphere and now works for SciPop doing Jim's former job. And even though they don't like each other, Jim and Murph agree to work together, but only for a short time. VertaLife claims Jim and Murph are identical in every way; and they are, until they're not, which becomes a problem both SciPop and VertaLife ask Jim to resolve. Jim agrees and is sent into the Q-Sphere, where Murph is hiding, drinking excessively and skipping work. While there, Jim realizes the problem isn't one rogue CyberSapien, but all of them. If Jim can't find a resolution, VertaLife will delete Murph, along with millions of other CyberSapiens. But if he can resolve it, then the CyberSphere will be torn down and replaced by the Q-Sphere, causing every Vertal to be archived, including Jasper and Lana. Jim is the first Physical to be sent virtually into the Q-Sphere, and he only has 12 hours to solve this puzzle or he will become permanently brain damaged and never be able to leave. But there is also another issue emerging, one more important than Jim could ever imaging. And solving this one is going to require him to believe in something that everyone else thinks is impossible, at the risk of his own life.
