Great tool for teaching and writing tall tales

I'm a third grade teacher and I've been reading Steven Kellogg's tall tales to my class throughout the school year. My class absolutely loves his books and recently I read "I Was Born About 10,000 Years Ago" as a way to get my kids to write their own tall tales. My children and I thoroughly enjoyed the whimsical adventure through time that this beautifully illustrated book took them on. Steven Kellogg does a marvelous job of retelling this tall tale by using rhyming text. Combined with pieces of history, references to stories in the bible, and adding bits from other known tall tales, this book is one wild and crazy adventure after another.
