All Organizational Workers Should Have This Book . . .

I bought this book when it first came out and have re-read it on several occasions. It is an invaluable reference on identifying, understanding, and defending oneself against these destructive people. I make a point of recommending this book to oppressed and harrassed workers, as well as to my graduate and undergraduate students. If I had this book back in the 1970s, my life would have turned out quite differently. One of the best lessons I have encountered on successfully dealing with the System and People as they are, not the way we wish they were.

This book was great

I work in a very competitive office and this book is full of strategies for coping with this type of workplace. highly recommended for anyone working at high levels in a company, or in politics, entertainment or another field where employees will stop at nothing to succeed.

Dilbert Meets Sun Tzu

The author describes the types of enemies you'll face, their probable tactics and countermeasures you can take. Some of those tactics are quite nasty. This is the type of skill you need to move up the corporate food chain. The Pointy-Haired Boss would not stand a chance.

Outstanding insights into human behavior in the office

One of the best books I've read on gaining insight into human behavior in the office. This book has no flowery words, no consultant-speak. It's practical down to earth advice on the behavior of people and most importantly, how to detect the behavior and the best ways to deal with it. It is also very non-judgmental in that it matter of factly points out the behaviors and how to deal with it. It's of great value even to the a-political type who doesn't want to deal with politics in the office, but wonders why things go the way they do (and appear to be very non-sensical). On the downside, I believe that the book could start on Chapter 6. I found the first 5 chapters to be an explaination of the obvious. It's also expensive for a paperback. But this book is worth it.

Wonderful book on office politics

This book is one of the top three books I've read on office politics, and I've read at least a hundred of them. From information on how to wage your own campain to how to avoid being buried by savvy players, this book provides a wealth of information. Many of the books on this topic simply re-hash the same information over and over. Cubicle Warfare has tactics I've never seen anywhere else. Useful, practical, real information can be found in this book. Check out the section on security and electronic doors for a new way to use a balloon. Great book
