Erudite and informative

Mr. Maxtone-Graham's book is the product of any number of trips on any number of ships bound for any number of ports. Though it contains a great deal of sage advice, it isn't a guide (and Mr. Maxtone-Graham offers spirited and eloquent reasons for just why it isn't). It is, rather, an invitation to step onboard an ocean liner and experience a pleasure far too few are familiar with in this age of hustle-and-bustle. Language used well is also a pleasure, and those familiar with Mr. Maxtone-Graham's writings will easily recognize his wonderful prose. If you're interested in booking passage on a liner (any liner) but have your doubts, this book will erase them. I can't wait to set sail, myself.
