Book Overview

A hundred years have passed since the Faerie woman Lara last saved the world of Hetar from the darkness. Her youth and her beauty remain as always. The passing years, however, have taken many of her friends and kin. Her influence has waned. Those who remember her heroism in times of peril are few. Crown of destiny

I have not finsished reading the book. I like to read books by Beatrice Small. I peek the end of the book and I like the ending.

crown of Destiny

Having read the first four books in this series, I was anxious to finish Lara's "trip" and see the ending. As always with Bertrice Small, I was not disappointed. Even though there was one more book to read in the series, I enjoyed this one very much.

wonderful climax

In Terah, Hetar, the Shadow Prince's realm, and the City; Lara the fairie has loved mortal and immortal men for decades. She has watched with pride her children become rulers. However, recently some have forgotten her pivotal role in the years of peace and prosperity. Her son the Twilight Lord Kolgrim plans to sire an offspring with the ability to destroy the lands. Lara's great-grandson Dominus Cadarn fears his kingdom is in trouble due to her magic. While her daughter Marzina has the fairie power to save the lands, but shows a rebellious inclination to take over her mother's role. Lara finds solace only with her beloved Shadow Prince Kaliq who vows to help her maintain peace in spite of her descendants. The sixth and final World of Hetar fantasy is a wonderful climax to the strong saga as Bertrice Small ties up the major threads with a fine family reckoning that feels like a Shakespearean play as the cast allows hate, jealousy and fear to rule their logic. Readers will appreciate the goings-on of a dysfunctional extended family in which the matriarch rules the roost while her descendants want dramatic change; not all motivated to make things better. Very good ending

I have been waiting for this book. I'm glad to finally read it but also sad because it is the end of the series. The story was very good & full of sex scenes which are in most of Bertrice Small's books. The only disappointment for me was the lack of love scene for Marzina. She became my favorite character in the series & I was left wanting more. All in all it is a good book & any Small fan will enjoy. I finished the book in about 2 1/2 hours that is how good a read it is. If you are a fan of Lara & Kaliq then i would highly recommend.

The end of a destiny

Over the last 4 years, I have read and reread Lara's quest to fulfill her destiny. Now that I have read the 6th and final book, I am unsure as to how to feel. It is if an old friend is gone and will never return. While the other 5 books were different in tone from this one as this one was the culmination of all the others. It is still a bit depressing to see the end. I can only hope the Ms. Small will create another outstanding heroine that can live up to Lara's reputation.
