Max Maltz and others popularized "PMA" (Positive Mental Attitude) years ago, and one could easily think that these ideas are out-of-date or just plain facile. Furthermore, some of its most enthusiastic supporters have unwittingly contributed to its "Pollyanna" image, with sometimes harmful results. Yet Maltz was way ahead his time, and a thoughtful reading will show you how to make the most of life and what you have, whatever your age and situation. The Cognitive Therapists have since rigorously mapped out many these concepts and tested them empirically, showing their great utility and value. (Although I know of noone among them whom he influenced directly or even through his writings. Check out the books by David Burns, for instance.)
