A great introduction to web page design

If you've ever been frustrated by "beginner" computer books that already assume you know HTML (or for that matter, that you know what HTML means), you'll be relieved when you buy any or all of the Art Wolinsky "Internet Library" books. "Creating and Publishing Web Pages on the Internet" makes learning the basics lots of fun.I am not a techie. My elementary-aged son wants to be one, and since we homeschool I knew I had to find a way to satisfy his curiosity and desire to learn. When he brought these books home I was very pleasantly surprised. Wolinksy writes so well, in an easy-to-understand manner, without any unexplained jargon, that even I learned something and enjoyed doing it. "Creating and Publishing Web Pages on the Internet" is a fun introduction to web page design and HTML (for my kindred spirits out there, HTML is a language that tells your web page what to show, what to do next, etc.). The step-by-step instructions are easy to follow.I do recommend you read the other three books in the "Internet Library" series before this one; it just makes more sense that way. You are led slowly and gently into the world of high tech, and by the time you get to the "Web Page" book it all makes lots of sense. My son laughed at the illustrations and Wolinsky's humor; Wolinsky knows his audience (late elementary and junior high-aged, probably) very well. A younger elementary student who is a good reader and eager to learn about computers will enjoy them as well.I highly recommend these books to any family that loves to learn, but especially to homeschooling families.
