Enhance Your Marriage

No matter how "rock solid" a marriage seems, probably most could benefit from some enrichment. Sample this book for a new idea or tip that will resolve a small problem or enhance the relationship. Don't wait for problems to erupt. Try some of the exercises in this book such as "How to avoid power struggles". The author uses visualizing, journal writing and talking to build relationships strong enough to survive external challenges.

Made 3 very important revelations, only on pg 41

I picked this book up by accident, it was on sale and it seemed to have some ok concepts based on my skimming the book, so I figured why not try the book out. But one of the first revelations had to do with something that bothered me for sometime about someone else's relationship. Finally after so long I had closure on that and Im positive it will help me in the future not only with understanding others' relationship but also in my own special relationship. He even explains how these principles/understandings/concepts (for better lack of a term) can help a relationship even if only one person utlizies them. I think that the reader needs to be open & honest with themselves while reading. It would also help to be able to apply these principles to things that have happened in past (to gain understanding) but also how to apply them in the present. I also think its a good guide to know what to watch out for in the future. Some things seem so simple in the book, kind of like common sense. Concepts that most of us probably know inherently but have not really fleshed out and always apply. The book seems to do a nice job of explaining and telling how to apply them. Some of the stories have a sort of quickly wrapped ending, but thats to be expected in books like this.

healing relationships

I had the pleasure of attending Dr. McMillan's professional workshop at our regional psychological convention, which was based on his book and his underlying theory of relationships. I have recommended the book to innumerable clients in my private practice, and I have benefitted personally, as well as in my work as a therapist from his ideas. The four essential principles in relationships as described by Dr. McMillan -- trust, art, trade, and spirit -- are profound and yet also refreshingly simple; clients seem to easily embrace these concepts in therapy and use them effectively in seeking positive change. I highly recommend this book to therapists and non-therapists alike.

Fearlessly gets to the heart of relationships that endure

McMillan shares principles of love and trust with simplicity and grace. This is not a typical book of "sexy ligirie" and "sex in unusual places" advice. The author recognizes that the being of a lasting relationship is within the souls, dreams, and vulnerabilities of its partners, and dispenses worthwhile advice that reflects this. After reading this book I learned to trust my partner more, and to gain his trust. I learned to let him know that I listen to him and that he is important to me. After applying the principles illustrated (by heartwarming, meaty stories)in this book, every aspect of my relationship reflected a positive turn. I recommend this book for anyone who loves somebody--whether the relationship is in jeopardy or not. This book's principles are useful not only to romantic couples, but the relationships between friends and family members.
