This amazing collection from the pages of Country Living is an invaluable resource, whether for giving a room a facelift or doing a gut renovation. With 500 beautifully photographed rooms and ideas to... This description may be from another edition of this product.
13 chapters focus on each room of the house plus a few special topics. In the kitchen chapter I thought, "What's so quick and easy about this?" About a third of the ideas here are NOT quick and easy, as they involve flooring, tiles, appliances, large furniture, or very specific antiques or architectural features. In the other chapters, about 8% of the suggestions are of this type (I counted); most of the rest are either really quick or a weekend project at most. Statistics aside, the book does contain several craft ideas (though without step-by-step instructions), many suggestions involving paint or color or pattern, hints on using fabric creatively or showcasing favorite articles, and hundreds of nice color photographs of real rooms. I found the quality a bit less inspiring than I normally expect from Country Living (some very obvious ideas), but I nevertheless gleaned several usable ideas, most on the 2nd or 3rd time through the book. Bottom line: the book is nice enough, but you might want to check it out from the library first to see if you really need to own it.
