Having read several of Jay Carty's books now I have to say he is an incredibly inspiring writer and person to say the least. I am so excited each month as I check for new "stuff" from Jay Carty as it is always refreshing and different yet always connected to God with a three stranded cord. If you haven't been a reader of his books for long there are many to choose from and this writer never stops searching for Gods will in his daily efforts to continue to provide hearty reading material for all groups and all stages from salvation, and growth to a mature level of one's spiritual walk. I highly recommend anything he puts his hands on because I know the hand of God is on him. Some of what I have read and or listened to on tape are:"Discovering your natural talents", "Counter Attack: taking back ground lost to sin", "Playing with fire", "Something's fishy Getting rid of the carp in your life","Coach Wooden One on One", "Coach Wooden's Piramid of success", Darrell Waltrip - One on One, "Mike Singletary- One on One" all keeping me captivated from cover to cover! The focus of this book isn't sin alone

The focus of this book is on Christ who has freed us from sin. I really appreciated Jay Carty's fresh, upbeat humor that made the truths in the book more easily accepted. We really do have to "take every thought captive," but we don't want to be captive to taking thoughts captive.Overall, this is a very balanced and real book. I hate that it's out of print but luckily people are sharing so I could get a copy.
an excellent resource for overcoming and dealing with sin

Of all the Christian "how to" books, this is the best I have read! Carty uses humor and a light writing style to maintain the reader's interest in a heavy subject. He gives practical advice with step by step instructions. And, his methods, when applied, really do work! This book is excellent for the new Christian and relevent for the life long Christian. It is an excellent discipleship and accountability manual as well. And, its ideas are universal for all ages and denominations.Carty deals with 3 main areas in which we all struggle: Anger, Godlessness, and Sexual Sin. While each subject is treated seperately, one unit builds upon another. In other words, what is taught in one unit can be applied to the other units.I first read the book nearly 10 years ago, and I still remember its ideas and concepts, and I use them as well. This is a book that needs to be reprinted and back out on the market!
Easy reading, but very powerfull, Fun, extreamly informitive.

This book is an exelent tool for new and old Chrisians alike, who are looking to deepen their relationship with Christ. You will actually feel the results of the prayers and rebukes that Jay leads you through. This book has changed my life. Thank you Jay Carty. In His Grip, Jeff Peterson
