It captures the daring and achievement of one of the most underappreciated accomplishments of the 20

It is hard for the modern person to appreciate how significant the solo flight of Charles Lindbergh across the Atlantic was. As an event, it meant that the North American and European continents were now only hours rather than days apart. The hero's welcome that Lindbergh received has never been equaled and his later life was one of tragedy and the sometimes sad and frustrating aftermath of being a hero. His plane, "The Spirit of St. Louis" is still one of the most popular attractions in the Smithsonian museum in Washington, D. C. This book puts that flight in perspective, points out the dangers and the reality that the nickname "Lucky Lindy" was earned. There were thousands of things that could have gone wrong, any one of which would have meant his death, most likely without a trace. It is an event that is underappreciated in our current time and one still worthy of study. With this book, that can still be done.
