My husband and I are big into Cooks Illustrated. I myself went to culinary school, I like all the details that they put into each recipe. We recieve the magazine but also have the back isses for the years that we don't have. It is our guide to whats for dinner tonight.
2003 was a great year

2003 was a great year for Cook's Illustrated. There are many recipes I make for special occassions - they are not very healthy, so I don't do them often, but they recieve rave reviews. Roast Lemon Chicken (Jan/Feb), German Apple Pancake (Jan/Feb), Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting (March/Apr), Scalloped Potatoes (March/Apr), Lemon Cheesecake (May/Jun), Pumpkin Cheesecake (Nov/Dec), Green Beans with Orange Essence and Toasted Maple Pecanse (Nov/Dec). I never liked scalloped potatoes until I used the Cook's Illustrated recipe.

Informative & practical & very well-written. A must for any foodie - these are so great. I would never buy a subscription - I will always wait for the annuals.
