This book, which is written by my professor here at UC, is an excellent tool for journalists to use to help them better their writing and editing skills.

A Tool for Students AND Professional Writers

Contemporary Editing provides a refreshing view of the role of editors in today's Internet economy. In addition to discussing the basic elements of superior editing, from grammar and punctuation to style and content, the authors provide readers with insight about serving news on the Web and in print with good judgement -- that is, how to pick out the real news and value for consumers. As a communications professional, I found Contemporary Editing a valuable resource to have on hand along the side of my AP Style Guide, a book I find myself referring to daily.
