Pleasantly Suprised!

When I saw the review before this, I wasn't sure I should buy this book, but am glad I went ahead and read it. I'm not sure whether the first few reviews were written by friends or not, but they are on target. This is a great DNS book, and is very helpful for understanding, installing, and maintaining DNS. I would have liked for the RFCs listed to be provided on a CD, and would have liked the text to be a bit larger, but other than that, this book rocks!

Great Book

This is a great book, the information is presented very well. Clear, Concise, and too the point without leaving out pertinent information. There is just enough background history on DNS to be useful and an extraordinary amount of useful information on the Dynamic update protocol and DHCP. I was pleased to see some rudimentary background information on W2K's Active Directory.

Awesome book

This book is just what the doctor ordered. The screen captures are awesome..you can actually read them, and follow along with them. The book provides enough background information about DNS to help those that need to 'brush' up and provides just the right amount of information about the dynamic DNS for Windows 2000. The authors did a great job of presenting this material in an easy, understandable format for both those new to the industry as well as those that have been in the industry for years

Great for learning about W2K DNS

I needed to learn about dynamic DNS on an Active Directory network. This was a perfect book. Great background information (and not too much of it) on DNS, a quick-reference list of RFCs up front, and then plenty of detail on implementing and maintaining in the back. A must have for anyone supporting W2K machines!
