Best Baby Book Around!

Detailed descriptions all the way through, plenty of pictures too! Walks through the developmental process for the birth process! I have four kids, this book has been with us through all of them. we have had many others but this is by far the best. find the newe one with the white cover if you can, it has better pictures.

Prenatal and Postnatal guide

Although, I do like this book since it has a lot of great information, I wish it was more elaborate. Along with information on conception, pregnancy and birth, this book provides quality photos and illustrations. I bought this book along with Heidi Murkoff's, "What to Expect When You're Expecting: 4th Edition". Murkoff's book details each month of pregnancy down to each week. Miriam Stoppard's book does not, however, she does give an overview of each month. This book has information on conception, pregnancy, labor and delivery, and how to care for the baby after they're born. I definitely recommend this book along with Heidi Murkoff's WTEWYE: 4th Edition.

Great book!

My husband and I are trying to conceive and I bought this book earlier this week and just finished it. I have also read The Mother of All Pregnancy Books by Ann Douglas (really good resource for couples thinking about TTC), and Your Pregnancy: Every Woman's Guide by Glade Curtis (Eh. It was not so good). I found this book to be an enjoyable, easy read and very informative. I particularly found the photographs, illustrations, case studies and sidebars helpful. My husband hasn't read it yet, but I'm going to recommend it to him, as Dr. Stoddard (unlike many pregnancy authors) actually addresses concerns of personal interest to fathers-to-be. Some of the other reviews have mentioned that it doesn't go into sufficient detail on some subjects, and that's true, but no book can be everything, and I found that it covered enough so that if you need to know more about a particular subject or issue, this book gives you enough information to ask the right questions or find other resources.

Army Officer, Wife and Mother

This is THE BEST PREGNANCY BOOK EVER!!! My time is severly limited, so bottomline directness is a necessity in my life - that's why this book was invaluable during my first pregnancy. I leant this book, and a few other books to a close friend during her pregnancy- guess which one was never returned. This book is a gem because it gives you a strong visual cue that you can identify with - It's comforting to see what you and your baby may look like during each month of pregnancy. The text writing is precise, with very appropriately sized, meaty chunks of information that seem to answer every question as they come to mind - it's wonderful! I love the set up of the book too, just reading Dr. Stoppard's book was like embarking on a journey, little treasures of pertinent information around every corner. I'm now expecting my second child and my first thought was -I need to order my Pregnancy Bible! (Dr. Stoppard's Conception, Pregnancy and Birth) With this book in hand, I'll feel informed, confident and prepared, just as I did through my first pregnancy.
