This one has been around since 1964 and is still in constant use. Rachel Snyder does quite a nice job of editing (She was the Editor-in-Chief of Flower and Garden Magazine. This work includes 17 pictures in full color, 215 black and white photographs and 84 nicely done drawings. The book covers most of the areas of gardening from the beginning garden, if reference to where you live through Care and increasing your garden, building planters and beds, flowers for the house, etc. I particularly like the section devoted to specialty plants and specialty gardens. The text is simple and easy to follow and is really rather well done. This work is of course is over 40 years old so there is some dated information. This, to be honest, makes the book even more charming. It is a nice, solid reference book to add to any gardening collection.
