Great Read!

The first 30 pages were a bit rough...however, the rest of the book was great! Would have also liked a refresher on the repeat characters in the beginning of the book.

Outstanding - Action-Packed with Sexy Commando's

Logan Chambliss is the leader of the elite Dragon One mercenary commando team; generally used for `mission impossible' jobs. Their latest gig is to clean-up a highly-sensitive mess the CIA had screwed up in Venezuela that could have highly detrimental and horrendous repercussions for the United States. Logan is a tough, hard as nails kind of guy, until this lastest `retrieval' went terribly wrong, specifically when the love of his life - presumably dead - showed up in the middle of his operation - alive, gorgeous and rocking his world. Tessa Carlyle had given up a lot when she'd agreed to play dead in order to live. She'd given up a lot but loved her free life-style and new existence as a National Geographic location scout when a voice from her past blackmailed her out of that safe haven. With one phone call Tessa was hurtled back into danger and back into the arms of the one man she'd never forgot; the one man she'd had to give up in order to live. *** Whew, this had double-cross, triple-cross, betrayal upon betrayal, and excitement beyond belief! Non-stop action from first page to the last made this an impossible book to put down. Fetzer fills the story-line with a vast amount of intriguing characters and engaging leads whose brief moments of titillating dialogs, as they dodged bullets and maniacs chasing and racing them through the jungles of Venezuela, kept you glued to the pages in high anticipation The plot is complex and Fetzer keeps the reader highly entertained with her fabulous military knowledge and black ops plotting as Logan's team discover that there was a heck of a lot more to the situation than the info they'd been fed. The feeling of being on a run-away roller coaster would aptly describe the emotions and intensity of the suspense/intrigue aspect . Couple this with a sufficient amount of sensualness in the romance element and, all in all, it balanced out well. The maniacal pursuit by Salazar (one of the obvious of the villains in this book) kept me on the edge of the seat. The political implications of greed, clandestine power struggles and manipulations were totally plausible. Tessa and Logan's chemistry was believable and it was gratifying to see them have a second chance at love (as well as lust). Their were moments where Tessa's story unfolded that brought tears to my eyes for all she had lost in order to stay alive, as well as a few chuckles here and there with her upbeat personality trying to take the edge off the danger she'd been dragged back into. Logan was one big stud-muffin whom Tessa felt safe with - capable, downright gorgeous, deadly when needed, and a great lover. COME AS YOU ARE was a perfectly engrossing read, and verifiably stand-alone! Surmising what I must have missed, it certainly makes me wish I'd read the first two books in Fetzer's Dragon One series. Bottom line -- I heartily recommend this book for those who like their romance served up with high adventure, hot sensuality, and thrill

When General Joe McGill shows up on his doorstep asking Dragon One to take a highly risky mission to rescue a man Logan despises, Logan accepts after some not-so-gentle persuasion from the General. However, once Dragon One has landed in Venezuela, the op zone, they encounter plots within plots within plots that lead to Logan discovering that a woman he thought dead is very much alive and right in the middle of Dragon One's very messy operation. Tessa Carlyle has been living a fairly peaceful life as a location scout for the National Geographic Society. However, she has been living with a secret that could destroy her carefully constructed world--she is supposed to be dead. A phone call in the middle of the night suddenly pulls Tessa back into the world she thought she had left behind eleven years ago when she faked her death, but will Tessa be able to survive this sudden plunge into the dangerous world of espionage and black ops? Especially when she meets Logan again? Come as You Are is a fast-paced, action-packed adventure into the political quagmire and the jungles of Venezuela. Ms. Fetzer weaves a wonderfully complex tale that will have you second guessing who the good guys really are until the very end while keeping her characters jumping from the frying pan and into the fire and keeping you turning the pages to find out what's going to happen next. Logan is a wonderfully flawed character who will capture your interest from the first page with his combination of vulnerability, Alpha-maleness and take charge attitude. Tessa is a great heroine with her steely spine and upbeat attitude that carries her through some of the most difficult times a person can face. One of the most interesting things about Come as You Are is the uncompromising view it takes on politicians and their clandestine maneuverings and how small actions by a single person can have far-reaching ripple effects and still deliver a nicely wrapped HEA for Tessa and Logan. A second chance at love

Amy Fetzer has written another exciting book in her Dragon One series. The men in her books are alpha male/ex military who take the jobs the CIA can't handle. The women they fall in love with are smart, sexy, strong and can take care of themselves. In Come As You Are, we meet Logan, ex-Seal, commander of Dragon One, and doctor and Tessa, National Geographic Society location scout. Logan and Tessa knew each other eleven years ago when they worked together on several covert operations. They had one night of passion and a potential for more, but it was cut short by Tessa's untimely death in an explosion. Logan has never forgotten her and blamed himself all these years for her death. In present day Venzuela, Logan and his team are working on an messy operation in a country divided and at war with each other when Logan confronts the past that has haunted him. A former friend and colleague, Ramos, is undercover as the vice president. He meets up with him one night and confronts another ghost from his past, Tessa. It seems that Ramos had set up her death eleven years ago. She was forced into being an operative with no formal training and her death was the only way she could get out of the life she didn't want. She has come to enjoy her present life but the past comes back to haunt her when Ramos calls her back in for a favor. Present day events throw Logan and Tessa back together where they regain trust and rediscover the love that was cut short so many years ago. In order for them to have a second chance at love, they need to survive their current situation which is full of deceit and betrayal. Who can they trust? Will they be able to get out alive? Will they have a future together? As in all Amy Fetzer's books, the action is non-stop and keeps you from wanting to put the book down. Her couples are also believeable and have incredible chemistry. You can feel the chemistry between Logan and Tessa that has not gone away even after eleven years apart and Tessa's supposed death. This time they will fight to keep from losing each other again and you want them to have their happy ending. Keep up the good work, Amy. Can't wait for the next exciting installment in the Dragon One series!

Kick-butt action romance at its best!!!

As usual Amy J. Fetzer has penned a romantic action/suspense book that 1)makes me glad I'm not an international traveler -- the heat, the sweat, the mud, the long hours in nasty prisons; 2)takes us back into the world of Dragon One studs, I mean ex-SEALS gifted with maximum military savvy and, okay, the stud-muffin factor is HUGE...I'd like to drag one home myself; and finally 3) gives us a story hinted at by the past decades' rampant rumors of multiple Husseins and Bin Ladens and the guys who aren't really dictators, they just play one on a world stage. Fetzer ramps up the romance by giving us one-time lovers reunited in ultra dangerous circumstances. Logan & Tessa never got to finish what they started years before and then came her supposed death which tore Logan up. Now they get another chance if they can survive. Fetzer always gives good military bang for the buck...and romantic bang, too! But Logan and Tessa have a genuine connection and the second chance they're granted is poignant when Tessa's reasons for disappearing are revealed. She once got pulled into an operation and then kept getting reassigned with very little training...how do you get out of your unwilling "volunteer" position when the government has a different view of your usefulness? Great all around read. And if you are in the mood for more great romantic thrills of the action/suspense sort, try Alison Kent, Cherry Adair, Cindy Gerard, and, of course, the utterly faboo Suzanne Brockmann.
