Full of inspiration!

This is an excellent book. I turn to it before beginning certain art projects because it inspires me to try different techniques, color schemes and materials then I may have been originally planning.

Sourcebooks get outdated but not this one

If you are buying this book as a sourcebook for materials, you are getting the wrong book. If you are buying it as a source for inspiration, you can not go wrong. Great ideas and beautiful photos. I have hundreds of books and this particular one is a most have.

Amazing, current resource

This book gives plenty of "project how-tos" but is not as much a "craft" book as is indicated by the tags heretofore attached to it. Contemporary artists doing collage in methods you might not have imagined are included. The work of these artists is amazing and inspiring and leaves plenty of room for growth and experimentation for the collage artist. I highly recommend this high-quality text.

A helpful overview with GREAT pictures

I was disheartened when I read another reader's review of this book. Since I don't own any of the books the other reviewer mentioned, I don't know if material has been copied - I CAN say that the photos and brief "how to-s" in this volume were inspiring! There are lots of techniques to explore, and yes, if you want to try and reproduce the EXACT works, you could - but for me, and I suspect for many other artists looking into modern collage ideas, this book provides a number of starting points for further exploration. The works are well photographed and labelled, with artist details included in the text, and overall this book is well produced and presented. If you're interested in exploring collage, this is a great kick off.
