What is love?

April, Renee, Blue and Loretta, are all women who are dealing with a number of issues in their relationships. Abuse, infidelity and secrets affect the lives of these women along with their family and friends around them. Love seems to be the number one reason that fuels these women's actions. But the questions are; Is it really love when you stay in an abusive relationship? Or Is it really love when you run away from the people who REALLY love you to save them from pain? And for one woman there is a fine line between love and hate leading her to commit the ultimate act! Take your time to absorb this story as harsh realities become clear and relationships are shattered. It took me a little while to grasp the story and the poor editing didn't help, but the likeable characters and the shroud of mystery kept me reading. Mr. Rasheed Clark did a fine job with the characters especially the male ones. I found Brian very refreshing, Reggie an obnoxious pig, and Darrel was just a bloody screw up!! I like the characters Sista, Day, Melvin and Mike which I gather are from Clark's previous book which I haven't read, but I think they should have their own spin off book...I feel a comedic air along with some heavy drama from these four. An interesting read. Locksie ARC Book Club Inc.

Best book ever!

Let me first introduce myself to you, as a reader. I am not a "Reader", I've known people who would rather sit and read a book, taking weeks to get to the climax. I've always been the type to watch movies instead to get through the beginning, middle and end quickly. Time was of the essence. In the amount of time it took a friend to read one book for pleasure, I could watch a dozen or more just as pleasurable movies. That's what I thought at the time. Two books have truly opened my eyes, Stories I wouldn't tell Nobody but God, and the sequel Cold Summer Afternoon. The first took 8 hours to read and taught me a serious lesson about reading for pleasure. I read each page wanting desperately to know what was coming next, what drama was about to unfold, What new character I would meet next, I found myself falling in love with each turn of the page, with the characters in the book of course. I thought they were my friends and that I would see them tomorrow. The book ended, I loved it, and I wanted to talk about to the first person I could find. I was also left discontented, simply because I wanted more, I wanted to know what would happen to my favorite character, and what would happen to my least favorite character. I could close my eyes and be transformed right onto the pages of the book. The lesson I learned was that Rasheed Clark writes books that make you flow through quickly desiring more. I decided to purchase the second book a few weeks ago, and the day it arrived I had already completed a quarter of the book. I wasn't going to make the same mistake, I slowed down and truly digested everything that happened in the story, this time taking three and a half days to complete the book. The new characters will make you laugh, cry, and feel more emotions in one day than imaginable. The old characters will steal your heart, anger you, and shock you simultaneously. The author has a skill at making you laugh and cry in the same breath. There are characters that come back from the first book, but also characters who are new and very well developed as well. Let me just give you a tip, If you read this book, take your time, enjoy it, love it, and if you haven't already, go back and read the first one. Its worth your time!
