A good read

I loved the characters, enjoyed the story. The weather adds to the suspense. Can't wait for book 2!

A "Cold" heart book....

K.C. Greenlief has struck gold, no no, more like silver with this book, "Cold Hunter's Moon". The placement of this book, while being very good, would be kind of hard for a person to relate to living in a major city such as New York City. But living up here in the U.P. of Michigan, I can see where this might be plausible. Along the same lines, the details of driving back and forth all over Upper Wisconsin, is done well, but it might leave the read asking, "Where are we now?" I did however like the characters of Lark and Lacey. I think that they were developing very well. Same as the Ransons. Now one thing that bugged me was the sub-plot of the problems with Lonnie. I think that the book would be a bit better without that part. But it does make you suspect a few more people. The book makes me wonder if Mrs. Greenlief was trying to scare the people of Northern Wisconsin. If she was, I think that makes the book 10X better. I think that all Mystery lovers should read this one... but if you live in Northern Wisconsin after reading this, I wouldn't look at your neighbor the same way again.I can't wait to read her next book... hopefully Mrs. Greenlief does not take the series out of Northern Wisconsin!

A slow starter but picked up

for me because I'm from Rice Lake, WI. And we do call Illinois vacationers FIB's, and yes believe it or not we occasionally do get snow storms like that. I have now moved to Oregon so it was a fun way to remember. I found it light hearted and suspenseful. Anxious to read the next one.

Waiting for more...

My review will be short and sweet. I was surprised to find out that this was a first novel. I loved it from the first page. I am a big fan of recurring characters and cannot wait to see the sequel. I loved the characters, the setting and the story. What a whacked bunch of people--I loved every one of them. Especially Ann.

Well told tale

John and Ann Ransom live on prime lake front property in Big Oak, Wisconsin. Once they moved into their new home, the couple posted no hunting signs so that deer hunters would stay away. One morning, Ann awakens to a gunshot, but ignores the noisy incident believing that a hunter fired a gun. That same day, her Golden Retriever drags home a bloody boot containing human remains. The Ransoms call Sheriff Lark Swenson, who finds the rest of the corpse. Three days later another body is found on their property. Lark and State detective Lacey Smith work closely together trying to determine whether the two murders are as related as they first seem and how. Though the two law officials deny it even to themselves, their proximity brings out warm tender feelings towards one another, but the investigation comes first for both of these dedicated people. COLD HUNTER'S MOON is as much a small town relationship drama as it is a police procedural. Lark and Lacey make a cute couple because they spend much time persuading themselves that business is the only relationship they share. Sub-genre readers will welcome newcomer KC Greenlief whose ability to place real people in a taut investigative tale will make her a fan favorite quite quickly.Harriet Klausner
