Haberlandt's book is a book that fills an important gap.

Haberlandt's book is a positively inclusive book which fills an important gap for undergraduates. The book's organization and content reflect an inclusive overview of today's cognitive psychology and the disciplines within or related to the field. This aspect of the book provides a comprehensive, and yet brief, overview of the knowledge accumulated and research that is being done in the field of cognitive psychology. Haberlandt gives different approaches on one topic in his book. The best example to this is the two chapters on knowledge representation. The first chapter is on the traditional cognitive psychology approach to knowledge representation and the second chapter coming after the first one is about the cognitive neuroscience approach to knowledge representation, namely neural networks.This is especially important if the subject matter of a discipline is cognition. Finally, the chapter on cognitive neuroscience is a very comprehensive review of theory and research in the field of cognitive neuroscience. The field is a newly fluorishing one in the attempt to understand the working of the human mind. It is excitingly promising when compared to other fields dealing with cognition. Yet, there is not much a source for the undergradute to learn the very basics of cognitive neuroscience. In this respect, Haberlandt does a very good job with this chapter in answering the simple question; "what is cognitive neuroscience?" . In short, Haberlandt's book is an optimal choice for a textbook in an undergraduate course on cognitive psychology.
