Everett Alvarez was the first POW of the Vietnam war and therefore held the longest. His first book, Chained Eagle documented his time in the war. This book documents his life after the war. He returned after nearly nine years in captivity to a family divided and his wife had divorced him. This is an inspirational book of his return, his rejection by the Mexican/American community because he wouldnt join them. His sister had joined the Peace Movement, his parents were split about the war ... a great read. It gets a little slow in the middle as he sorts his life out and directs it for good but the book is worth the end where he talks candidly about what he learned and how it has helped him. Great book and I am surprised and disappointed it is out of print. Guess it shows the interest in these guys even now. What a shame, so much to learn from them.
