In this story Betty and Tommy meet Clotilda , a fairy godmother who is feeling sad. Clotilda demonstrates her powers, by aging young forest animals and plants faster than expected. Tommy says “that would have happened anyway, until Clotilda puts a spell on him. Clotilda sings a song about how magic is all around in nature. Betty is granted three wishes. One of them is to be as nice as her mother, which just was so cute. Clotilda and Betty are happy together, but maybe, as Tommy says, “that would’ve happened anyway. It’s just a really adorable little book. I think it’s one of the best Jack Kent books I have read.
