Tom Romano knows high school students. His book is inspirational and pragmatic. He provides stories of his students as writers and gives some great insight into the art of reading student papers for the good things that are there. I heard him speak last summer - the man knows his stuff. I liked the book even more after listening to him.

Romano's book has some valuable and practical methods of "inspiring" writing to teenagers. If I taught writing to teens based on what I learned (during the sixties and seventies), I would be a disastrous failure, not prompting young people to truly expand their talents.
