"I hate Mimi! I hate her! Now that Mimi died, who's going to help me with my homework and have special tea with me?" Claudia has just suffered a sad good bye. Then someone else popped into Claudia Kishi's life. Carrie Addison. Carrie is a small, quiet 9 year old girl who makes Claudia realize that as terrible as she felt about Mimi, she realized Claudia knew her love. Claudia was lucky. Then Claudia relized it would be harder to be Carrie Addison. I thought this book was great. I would read it 10 times over if I could. It was great becausse it has a few lessons for Claudia. I recommend this book for ages 8+.

sad book but good subject for helping kids deal with a loss

claudia and her grandmother mimi were so close. She would come from school everyday and together they would drink 'special tea' in beautiful japanese tea cups as displayed on the cover and mimi was the only one who understood claudia in her family. Mimi had a stroke recently but was doing fine for some time but her health begins to decline in this book and she's had to be rushed to the hospital a few times after collapsing and was sent home, but after being sent back a second time and saying she was doing fine she passed away peacefully in her sleep. Claudia experienced so many emotions that she couldn't grasp or understand throughout the events following the death. She felt sad, angry, abandoned and so forth and those feelings are real. Her family helped her out at the end though come to terms with it and it made me cry too cause my great grandmother passed away when I was a kid and I remember not knowing how to feel myself, happy cause she was in no more pain and in a better place, or sad cause i will never see her again and stuff like that.

A Great Book

When Claudia hears her mother and father talking about something, Claudia's mother tells Claudia that Mimi died.

Wonderful

Claudia and the sad good-bye is great. But, like the other reveiwer said Get Your Tissues Out... It is a great book, like all the BSC books!

this book was pretty sad but it told about mimi's death sensitively. The book had some pretty sad parts, but it also had some humorous parts. In a whole, CLAUDIA & THE SAD GOODBYE was a real tear jerker, espicaially if you are sensitive.
