The Boys in the Clockwork Age

What would you do to mark your last summer of childhood before it's time to strike out in the world on your own? Before they go their separate ways, Alonzo and Gus have a few precious months to mess about and have some fun. Alonzo drags his mate to a fair and ends up in custody, the victim of racial profiling. If Gus is to spring Alonzo, he has to figure out one of his friend's latest inventions-and make it work. In the next story Gus finds himself aboard an airship on a mission to free the working class from their oppressors after a chance meeting with an old acquaintance. Then Alonzo shows up at the cabin door in mid-air to talk some sense into his mate. In their third adventure, the lads discover the plans of a self-made millionaire to raze a slum and build a factory and don't know what to do. There will be jobs going begging in the plant, but their new friend Fred will lose his home in the notorious slum of Saffron Hill. Finally, Gus meets his idol-but she turns out to be one of the waxwork minions of a nefarious Dr. Pygmalion. It's up to Alonzo to track down his best friend in a London peasouper, then work out a way to free him. Join your favourite Victorian street Arab Alonzo and his his mate Gus in their rollicking adventures across the city (and over it) This description may be from another edition of this product.
