A discussion of the founding of the United States of America and the impact of that founding on the country's history to date. This description may be from another edition of this product.
This is the standard textbook required for the American Heritage 100 course at Brigham Young University. It was written by professors from BYU and published by BYU. Despite being a school and course specific textbook, it is a wonderful overview of the basic concepts and events necessary to an understanding of America's Founding. It combines elements of History, Philosophy, Political Science, and Economics in an effort to teach students what America is all about. It is highly accessible to any reader and would be perfect for anyone above a sophomore in High School. It is replete with color pictures and diagrams and includes appendices with important founding documents and an economic principles section. I found the text highly enjoyable and easy to read. If you need this book for the BYU course make sure you get the 2007 Hardcover edition. Previous editions are considerably different, and even have a shorter title (merely America's Founding Heritage) especially editions 1 and 2. Before the Hardcover ed. their was a test softcover edition which was edited and altered prior to the hardcover edition, thus you need the hardcover edition for current American Heritage courses at BYU.
