Lots of ideas here

This book is an overview of the techniques that might be used in the co-operative classroom. It also deals with the philosophy behind the theory. This is a good academic book, plenty citations, etc, if you wanted to use quotations or other refernces. It seems to be mainly aimed at elementary school but there are some ideas for high school too, that you could modify. I have taken some inservice on this topic, and to be honest, these were more helpful to me as teacher at the "coalface", so to speak. The binding is quite loose, so you will need a folder to keep it together. I bought this second-hand and got great value, it was in good order. Apparently Nut and Bolts of Co-operative Learning is a better buy, but I have not read it...it is a bit pricey yet!!

Some information is a little dated. But the initial concept of having more cooperative learning is what I like. Take the concept and work with it. Having children teach other children is a win/win, where the teacher is a facilitator. Serious discussion should take place with students about rules and why they are necessary. Then have them construct their own bylaws for class. Have them own as much of their learning as possible instead of force feed and wrote.
