Can't put it down!

This is a wonderful book! The characters are people you like......they're human, they make mistakes. You care about what happens to them. Rosalind Laker is an incredible writer and this book is one of her best.

One of her best!

This was the first Laker book I read and, I have to say, it is amazing! The details about the house, the era, the dress, everything is just superb. After reading this I was really into furniture with hidden compartments and, of course, reading more Rosalind Laker novels. Her books will never go out of style!

Circle of Pearls

This was the first book that I ever read that I literally could not put down. The characters are so vivid and the inspired weaving together of fact and fiction was a real pleasure to experience.

Excellent social History novel

This book ties in the memory of a great Queen - Elizabeth I with the problems in England that ensued under her successors. This social picture is seen within the context of a particular family who are loyal to the King and not to Parliament. In particular it is the story of one of the family and how she retains her independence, her loyalty to her Grandmother and family name and begins to love someone who politically is her opposite. The thread is a Gown of Queen Elizabeth's. Only problem is that it hasn't a sequel. A very good novel.

Great historical novel

This is a very interesting historical novel, dealing with the Restoration period of English history and Charles II. The characters were very believable, although l was a little disappointed with the character of Adam, who started off doing anything to win her, but showed only little 'spark' after that. On the whole, a very informative and enjoyable book.

The characters are so engrossing!

This is my favorite book by Mrs. Laker. The historical family saga is very interesting and kept me turning the pages. She applys all aspects of human suffering and romantic love in a different way than most historical romances. Wonderfully written.
