Science Thriller

This is a thrilling novel about some scientists in Africa that are using cloning to create subhuman monkeys using bonobos so that their body parts can harvested for the specific human who is matched with the animal, and about a medical examiner named Jack Stapleton who discovers at the morgue in New York City while working that something strange is going on. He notices during an autopsy that a man had had a liver transplant but for some reason he has trouble finding out where and when and also the man didn't need anti - immunity drugs, in other words the body did not try to reject the liver. Jack digs deep to find the answer and the two plots finally connect. I really liked Jack Stapleton's character, and his co - worker, Laurie Montgomery, and enjoyed them in Contagion and Vector also. I felt I was educated as I read the book, it was very well detailed with scientific and medical information, but not boring, book keeps a good pace. An exciting read.

Awesome entertainment!!

Robin Cook truly expresses the horrors of genetic engineering gone wrong.A young scientist in the deep jungles of Equatorial Guinea tries a Hi tech experiment with bonobos and finds out he has created a class of entirely different creatures! Meanwhile in the USA,Jack and Laurie r puzzled by the death of a mobster and the disappearance of his body.Their search and passion for adventure leads them to the same jungles of Africa where they encounter Kevin, the young scientist and xperience the horrors of his experiment gone wrong. The book has a lot of complex genetics involved and the reader has to be quite well versed with the concepts of meiosis, transponases etc..But the action and mystery and the horror is worth doing some research. If anyone hasn`t read a Robin Cook novel, this isthe best one to start with.Ittruly deserves the five stars.

Back as a freshman...

As a freshman in High School, my Biology teacher assigned this book to the class to read and write a report on. This was the first book I read by Cook, and I greatly enjoyed it. This was the first assigned reading book that I actually enjoyed reading, but not only did I love the book, I've gone on to read more books by him. To my amazement, many of the people in the class with me, people who I didn't think would read more books by Cook, read other Cook books (pun not intended, really...) The book really kept you on your feet, but is also educational, and I really enjoyed it.

The best book by Cook from beginning until the wonderful end

As I was reading CONTAGION, another excellent book by this wonderful writer, that deals with a kind of rare virus, and as I was diving in the story, I went so deep on the plot that somehow I felt the same sickness, the same disease the characters were feeling... Well, what this book has to do with CHROMOSOME 6? The simple truth is: the other day I couldn't leave my bed, feeling so bad I couldn't move: psychological sickness, I discovered later. Then, I had one more book by Robin Cook to read... CHROMOSOME 6, of course. This book is the best one Robin Cook ever wrote. The plot, one of the most original and well developed I've ever read, makes you want never stop reading that book. And, since I was sick and couldn't leave home, I went on reading... And finish the book in only one day... And this book is more than 500 pages long. Believe me. This book is a wonderful reading. CHROMOSOME 6 is one of these rare books that you read from beginning to end as if you were watching a wonderful movie with your favorite actor. I'm not going to tell you here anything of what happens on this story. You'll have to read to understand how powerful, strong and well-written this book is. In my opinion, Robin hasn't written a better book since that one. And I believe that, if you begin reading that one, you'll agree with me. If you haven't read any book by Cook yet, that's the perfect choice. If you're a fan already, then, this book will make you enjoy Robin's books more than ever. Read it and know exactly why.Marco Aurelio.

like wow!

I thought this book was extremely good. It was so so good that it got me to buy one of Dr. Cook's other books entitled "Fever". I am only 12 years old, but I enjoy his books. The only negative comment that I have on The book was that all the medical terminology gets very confusing. All in all I thought that this was an exellent book.
