Christmas Teddy (Leap frog lift-a-flap)

ISBN 0785328572 - I have to admit that I'm shocked (pleasantly so) to be giving this book 4 stars. It isn't destined to be a classic, won't be reprinted in 75 languages or anything like that - but it is, in its own way, exactly what it ought to be. Teddy is going to a new home this Christmas. The elves ready him and pack him in the sleigh, but he falls out and has an adventure on his way to Billy's house. Hopefully, he'll get there in time for Christmas! One thing I liked is that this "shaped board book" is actually in the shape of something, a stocking, rather than just a weird shape. The board book pages are fairly sturdy and, equally important, they're glossy, which means they wipe clean easily. There is no author listed on the book; illustrator Ben Mahan's images, which cover every inch of the pages, are beautifully bright and colorful without too much unnecessary detail and the lift-able flaps are fun. The flaps are, as usual, a little more delicate than the pages and will tear more easily. - AnnaLovesBooks
