I loved this book. I am far from the Traditional Christmas Country Gal. I am into everything full of color and over the top but my husband isn't. I took two ideas from this book this year and had a lot of fun yet kept it real for him. Everyone likes looking at it, I like copying some of the ideas. The maniquin, well my cousins have one. If I spend Christmas with them one year, I just might try that.
Christmas Inspirations!

This book is filled with useful and specific information on how to light a tree, highlight "feature" ornaments, make bows, and selecting the right tree. Yes, I agree with the other reviews, this book is over the top, especially the "12 Dames of Christmas." But, even those designs have carefully thought out color schemes that can serve as inspiration. Pro's: Excellent photos Styles covered are: Traditional (very elegant & RELEVANT!!!), Victorian, White Winter Wonderland, Country, Jewel-toned Theme, Retro (great for kids!), and Tropical/Floral Helpful tips & step-by-step photos Con's: 1/3 of book dedicated to the 12 Dames, gawdy, but eye-candy to some Debi & Bob, PLEASE WRITE A SEQUEL. YOUR FANS ARE CHOMPING AT THE BIT.

Amazing decorated trees with different themes. Very American and very O.T.T but great for putting you in the mood for Christmas. Wonderful photographs!
Christmas Style - Recommended Highly

I love my new Christmas Style book, it's a beautifully shown and explained how-to book. They have created a wonderful display of natural and artificial tree decorating, from traditional to pop culture and year round variations, and a multitude of trimming styles!! I enjoy it often, keeping it on my coffee table to pick up when I'm dreaming of Christmas decorating in the summer in TX. The touches of the celebrities makes for a charming insight to their personalties. I highly recommend this book.
An unusual holiday decorating book
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 19 years ago
"Christmas Style" is rather unusual for a Christmas decorating book. (And as a librarian, I've seen tons of them!) The first 2/3 of the book could be called "Christmas themes". Each 2-page spread shows a different theme. Each theme features pics of a lovely tree demonstrating that theme. Surrounding this, there are smaller pics of supporting decorations - centerpieces, mantle swags, oranments, etc. - that support the theme. The themes are sometimes classic ("country warmth"), sometimes sophisticated (like the "decadent design" theme which features black and silver), and sometimes whimsical (like the themes based around silver screen movie actresses). Many are unusual. All are well done and inspiring. The last third of the book covers practical things - selecting real and artificial trees, tree setup, lighting, using ribbons, bows and fabric as decoration, how to hang garland, types of ornaments, tree toppers, etc. (the list goes on). This book has a great combination of inspiration combined with practical advice.
