America's Leading Theologian

...has written the best account ever of the relationship between Christian theology and political philosophy. Guerra doesn't stop with the allegedly invincible tension between reason and revelation. He goes on to show that the Christian account of who we are is more personal and so more reasonable than the classical tendency to identify being human with the mind. He's included a penetrating but very accessible introduction to the thought of Leo Strauss and fine appreciation of the Straussian theologian Ernest Fortin. He's also identified, with great sensitivity, the the original, Catholic contribution of James Schall.
