Easy To Read Introduction To American Churches

The author, Martin Marty, is a professor of modern Christian history at the University of Chicago. So he obviously knows his stuff. But this book is an extremely accessible introduction to the many churches that make up American Christianity. It includes illustrations by Reg Sandland and can be read by everyone from school kids to seniors. But despite the book's simple style it really does contain alot of information, with 2 or 3 pages each devoted to discussing the history and theology of over 20 denominations including the Baptists, Catholics, Methodist, Penecostals and Mormons. But keep in mind this a basic intro level text not a work of scholarly analysis. So it won't be of interest to everyone but is well suited for it's target audience.
