An okay book on what it means to be in Christ

For those who want a good starter book on what it means to be in Jesus Christ then this book is for you. Though mature and more theologically-inclined Christians will find the book redundant, there are many good biblical pointers for those who have not yet advanced far into the faith. One of the things I liked about the book is how Price does not compromise on the Gospel. He does not follow the modern evangelical fad that being a Christian is merely about signing a card for Jesus or that one can accept Jesus Christ and live like a pagan. I also liked his section on how Christians can know the will of God (pp. 54-56). Instead of following the typical modern Charismatic teaching of attempting to find God's will through silly rituals and circumstances, Price tells us that the Holy Scriptures reveal that God wills all Christians that they be holy, thankful, good, and to suffer for the faith. Another good section to read is the chapter on the "Marks of the Holy Spirit" (chap. 8). Price tells us that if the Holy Spirit really indwells in us we will have the hunger to know Jesus, to be like Jesus, and to serve Jesus. If these drives are not present then we really should doubt whether the Holy Spirit is sealed in us. Overall, this is an okay book on what it means to be a Christian. Though it many not be as theologically oriented as books written by John MacArthur, John Piper, James Montgomery Boice, etc., it is still a good place to start for a new believer.

This book will become a classic.

This is the best tool I have found to help me better understand the fundamentals of my relationship with Christ since "Classic Christianity" (B. George). This book is easy reading but there are many nuggets of gold that I find myself going back over again and again. This book has shown a bright light on my sincere but uneccessary efforts to try to control my relationship with Christ. (from the back cover) As one reviewer writes,"Charles Price strips away the evangelical myths that have overgrown the gospel and challenges us to stop trying to live for Jesus and start discovering Christ who is our life. It ought to be required reading for all Christians."

Christ for Real

If you're confused about how to live a christian life in this day and age, let Charles Price guide you. This book offers solid information on being a true Christian using a unique and refreshing approach. What's makes this book stand out in a crowd, is the smooth and sensible flow from "how" to "why" to "as it says in the bible". Comprehension takes a little concentration. I reread many paragraphs because getting a good handle on the concepts was important enough, to me, to put forth the extra effort! I will definetly reread this one. Again and again.
