We don't know much about Jonah's ministry before the book of Jonah or even after his three-day stay in the belly of a big fish. The book starts with a mission and ends with an unknown outcome...leaving us feeling that Jonah didn't chose or finish well in his ministry. This book is written for people in Christian ministry, either full-time, part-time or lay people. It is our goal to choose and to finish well, so this book helps us to go between the lines to see what Jonah needed to know to finish well. Those of us in ministry can resonate with some of the dilemmas that Jonah faced and perhaps learn from his mistakes. It's true, we have not been swallowed by a big fish, but some of our life's challenges have felt similar. We have all felt at one time like fleeing to Tarshish or even felt so exhausted in our ministries we wanted to quit. This 40-day devotional is written with a very honest approach to see how to accomplish the goal of CHOOSING WELL and FINISHING WELL in our ministries.
