Reminds us that we must be self-conscious ethicists

Put on your thinking cap when you read this superb wake-up call to women who wish to lead. This book is chock full of ideas that have received too little circulation. Buchanan shows that the feminist movement was really started by women of deep religous and moral commitment. She also shows why women's leadership (and morality) has been cast as somehow less significant than men's. Buchanan reminds us that we cannot simply buy into the values that pervade our institutions, that we must rethink fundamental principles and moral issues. She also offers a fine critique of the popular view that women leaders are somehow "nicer" than men leaders: women are capable of the range of leadership and moral capabilities. We must choose if we are to lead wisely.

EVERY WOMAN IN AMERICA SHOULD READ THIS BOOK.

"CHOOSING TO LEAD by Constance Buchanan is quite simply one of the most important books on women published in this decade." -- Karen Page, Chair, Harvard Business School Network of Women Alumnae and Executive Committee, The Council of 10
