Dorothy Rowe as a clinical psychologist in England had vast experience and gained a clear understanding of some of the deepest stirrings of the mind. However this not a patronizing or feel good book ; it deals with everyday problems expressed like I have never really seen. The book is humorously written yet it moves you. It doesn't psyche you up like a pre game talk, as some similar books do. It is simple wisdom. Dorothy Rowe explains how living in the present is sometimes hard to do. Dwelling in the past and thinking about the future means we cannot cease the moment. There are hints of Zen, however Dorothy Rowe relays her ideas in a practical and down to earth practical way. There comes a time in ones life when you have to start taking responsibility for your life. Circumstances are everything to us, and this books tries to teach you how to control your circumstances. Sprinkled throughout the book are case studies which are humorous, but the analysis and recommendations she makes are in easy to follow steps. It is not a bullet form book with a 50 things to do list. Instead it is creative, and a great read.I've read many inspirational books on Positive thinking by Norman Peale and Habits of Effective people by Stephen Corvey. The problem with these great books it that they tend not get at the emotional roots behind our actions. This book does, and is good fun at the same time.
