'Choose Mexico for Retirement' is the ultimate 'everything you need to know guide' when considering retirement to this exciting and beautiful country. It includes detailed discussions on the cost of... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Like I would imagin many that purchase this book I'm considering retiring and am seeking the opportunities to experience a different culture, a slower pace, an area with better values and less crime, lower taxes and a lower cost of living. I'd like to find that secure feeling of rural-town america of years ago before everyone sought entitlement, special interest groups recieved preferiental treatment, and we passed laws ensuring evryone's individual rights became far more important than our societies needs. Is this Mexico? This book provides an insight to some of the cultural differences, climate differences of areas, cost of living differences and some other very benefitial information. I would reccomend this well-written book to anyone considering an extended trip to Mexico.

It was this very book that gave my husband and I the information we needed to start bringing our dreams of retiring in Mexico to reality. There were so many good tips in there. We found our piece of the baja outside San Felipe in Baja Norte, and started a site called [....] Thanks to this wonderful author who has helped us realize our dreams of living and retiring in Mexico.

Nicely organized and full of information, this is a great resource for anyone thinking of moving to Mexico. As much as anything, I learned what questions I should be asking, and what I need to consider before making a final decision. Different locations are compared in a meaningful way, so that I actually zeroed in on my tentative location (Sayulita, which I had never even heard of before) with the help of this book. Important up-to-date information on Mexican laws regarding land ownership and vehicle insurance are critical and this book can save anyone a lot of money and inconvenience. Don't buy or rent a house in Mexico without reading this book.

I was very pleased with this book as it really answered most of my questions about moving to Mexico. I think the authors' perspectives on life in Mexico seemed to be very honest and accurate since they revealed both the good and bad aspects about living south of the border. This book was informative and enjoyable to read. I was inspired!
This is the original and best of the guidebooks

I disagree with the reviewer's statement that there are no substantial differences being reported over an 11 year period. Because of our interest in visiting and living in Mexico, I own three editions (including the 1988 and the 1999 copies). I've found each edition extremely comprehensive and appreciate the updated material provided in each. Like any guidebook, Choose Mexico provides comprehensive information about living, retiring, and doing business in Mexico. We have used it extensively during our yearly semi-retirement visits to the country. The basic facts in any guidebook do not change from year to year while new regulations and changing economic are dutifully reported. I certainly don't expect the authors of a guidebook to present the same facts in a different form for each new edition. It's a guidebook, not a novel! I would rate Choose Mexico as five stars for their complete and entertaining guidebook on living in Mexico.
