A teenager, who's fought for everything in his life, makes a terrible error in judgment when he's fourteen and is sentenced to a juvenile facility until he's twenty-one. After earning his GED, he petitions the court to serve the remainder of his sentence in the military which is granted. With a special waiver, he enlists in 1964 and, because of his background, is trained by the U.S. Army as an assassin and shipped to Japan for periodic excursions into Vietnam. When their mission is compromised, he returns to the States where he is subsequently discharged at the age of nineteen. Unwanted by his parents, he settles in a small town where a brother lives and tries to start his life anew. He marries and starts a family but then another death occurs where he is held responsible so he is on trial again.
