Unknown Masterpiece

There are few books that really stand out in my memory throughout my years; this being one of them. This book was first given to me about eight years ago; missing the cover, one of the pages ripped out. I read through it with the angst of a child in a candy store. The story takes you through so much time in such a short period, I couldnt help but read it over and over. You become entangled in the conspiracies and relationships that take place, and actually feel for the characters as they are put to their paces. They literally grow before your eyes as you span from the beginning to the end. I'd have to say, this is one book that will never be forgotten, although it is barely known by today's generation. Enjoy the action, the excitement, and the drama as it unfolds before you.

Big and haunting

I found this story as riveting a read as "The Godfather" and in some ways more memorable. I journeyed to the Orient right after high school and this book dredged up a lot of memories for me. The sights and sounds portrayed are right on the money and the characters are some of the most interesting in contemporary fiction.

Just a fun, fast reading book.

This book is very enjoyable, with likable characters, an intriguing plot and exotic locales. The end is a bit of a Godfather take-off, but it works within the context of the story. This is a book I've found myself returning to over and over for years. Does anyone know if William Arnold wrote anything else? I'd love to read it. China Gate could make a helluva movie.
