There is hope.

"For most people, having a baby is as natural as breathing air. But for some couples, nothing seems to work properly. If you are childless, you may feel betrayed, cheated, hurt. No one seems to understand. There is no quick or easy way to resolve the problems of childlessness. But there is a path through them, and it leads to hope."

Childless

As the Infertility Host for BellaOnline, this book was a must read. The book "Childless" is written by Beth Spring. It was published in 1989. This is a very short book (only 47 pages). It can be easily read in one sitting. This book is Christian in nature and God and His will in a couple's lives are openly discussed in this book. This book deals with the personal decision or the forced decision to be childless. There are 15 chapters in this book. They are (1) The End of a Dream, (2) The Myths, (3) What Is Really the Matter?, (4) A Couple's Concern, (5) Surprise or Denial, (6) Anger and Depression, (7) Grief That Heals, (8) Finding Support, (9) Are We Being Punished, (10) Are We Meant to Be Parents?, (11) What Makes a Family?, (12) Alternatives for Childless Couples, (13) Adoption, (14) Remaining Child Free, and (15) New Depths of Compassion. My favorite chapter of this book is chapter two - The Myths. It discusses the common catch phrases that many people will tell you when you are trying to conceive and are unsuccessful. Some of the most common phrases are "Just relax.", "Adopt a child, and then you'll have one of your own.", "Stop trying so hard.", "Take a long holiday (or a vacation)...then you'll get pregnant.", and "God must be punishing you." Each of these phrases are untrue, but they are each heard so often by couples who are trying to conceive unsuccessfully. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has suffered from infertility for longer than a year. It is a simple book, but it truly opens your eyes to the reality of childlessness.
