What we did it the 1930's; Come along and see what Fun we had really we did.

An Authentic account by a young lady raised during the depression and WW2 on an Iowa Farm. A life without Electricity, no indoor plumbing, TV, I-pods. video games, Frozen pizza or fast food restaurants. You would be lucky if you had food and adequate shelter. Many people did not. This is a great autobiography and very well written. It is written by Doris Baird, the 2nd of 4 daughters of Orval and Elsie Baird. The oldest daughter is Grace and daughter three and four are Sarah Ann and Barbara. Doris was born in 1931.Her parents had a farm and grew crops and animals. Most of what they ate they grew. Their lighting was kerosene. The bathroom was an outhouse. Their refrigerator was a cold creek or in the winter snow. Their cooking and heating stoves were powered by wood.Their bathtub was a metal tub filled up for bathing once a week. They had a crank wringer washer and a crank ice cream machine. The dryer was no matter the weather hang outside on the clothesline. This book is the story of Doris and her family during the Depression and World War 2.There is entertainment- A battery radio, board games and books. Sadly enough there is some tragedy in this story as well. This is a very interesting story with good photos.
