Emotionally compelling

The book "Child of the Mountain" has a strikingly beautiful bookcover. The cover is stirring in its photography of misty-like tall trees reaching to the sky. The cover sets the tone for what happens in the mountains of Kerry, Georgia (a small town). This is a first write for Marjorie E. Dufault but she has taken great care to give the reader a feel for the life adjacent to the mountains and to give us a thought provoking look at a story revealed as we meet each character--characters of every dimension. The writer has found her voice in her first writing. If you enjoy children and a somewhat mysterious story you will really enjoy reading this novel. The circumstances surrounding the children are very moving and meeting the people eating at a small diner on the outskirts of the town of Kerry and studying a timeline will keep you reading. I recommend this book for it's simplicity and forthright storytelling.
