As the title says, I still read the book from time to time and I never get bored with it. Cherish the Dream is a historical romance novel about an exploration that changed the course of history of America. You can find a good enough number of scenes regarding the expedition from Fort Leavenworth to California as well as a few seductions and romance by the captain and the botanist. You will also get to experience life with the Cheyenne Indians, their culture, customs and tradition. The characters are likable and you can distinctly tell who is who. The plot is smooth and does not get draggy. Kathleen Harrington's writing style did not bore me at all and at times I find myself giggling at some parts. So, if you like reading historical romance novels about expeditions, natives and such, grab this book now and see if you can read it over and over again.

I happened across this book several years ago and have picked it up at least 3-4 times a year to re-read it since then. The story is one of a stuffy scholar and her brother who accompany a half-breed and his soldiers to map a route to California. There are, of course, many trials & tribulations on their journey and several deaths. The story takes several unexpected twists, flows very well & is easy to read. I have a huge collection of "smutty indian" books, and this book is in my "top 5". It is one of the best books I've ever read!
