Cheese Louise is not "cheesey"

I am a school psychologist, and a few weeks ago I was asked to read a book to several classes of second graders. While casually browsing, I happened to pick up the book "Cheese Louise", and found it very captivating, humorous, with delightful illustrations. The children I read to were completely captivated by the story, and several wanted copies of the book for themselves.

One of the most entertaining tales about a dairy product, this book is a delight for both kids and adults. Like the classic Looney Tunes cartoons, Cheese Louise has a story that appeals to a child and numerous cultural references that bring a grin to the face of an adult. The book has a good moral without being didactic, and the lush illustrations complement the crisp dialogue. Sure to be enjoyed by every child who is not laughter-intolerant.

Delicious!

I've taught this book and kids love it. The story completely captivates them. Most of the picture books I read don't work for adults, but this one does. It's hilarious, and will make you care about the exploits of Louise the brave cheese. The story is wonderful, and multilayered, the illustrations bright and engaging. I can't recommend it strongly enough!

Cheese Louise is Wholly Satisfying

This delightful story about an insecure piece of Swiss cheese who becomes a hero will elicit fits of giggles from children and adults. The illustrations are stunning-- bursts of bright colors that will keep a toddler's attention and help older children follow the story. The text is riddled with clever puns to amuse adults (a container of yogurt named Humphrey bids Louise farewell with a wistful, "Here's looking through you, kid!"). However, Cheese Louise's most wonderful gift is not its humor or illustrations, but the very meaningful story it tells. It's a story about the inherent worth of each individual, regardless of differences, imperfections, or holes. It's a story about teamwork, friendship and ingenuity. Children will learn many valuable lessons from Cheese Louise. Although they may be giggling too hard to notice.
