Life in a French Chateau

Anne Willan's "Chateau Cuisine" is a delicious coffee table book depicting the castles and cuisines of various French regions. Since most of the chateaus date back to the 17th and 18th centuries, one isn't going to find the cooking of Medieval Tymes. These French chateaus have much history--from being the summer homes of the King's mistresses (one of whom was two decades older than her royal paramour, and depicted as the virginal Roman goddess Diana) to being virtual fortresses during WWII. "Chateau Cuisine" shows that there's much diversity in Gallic cooking. From the Germanic style of Alsace to sunny Provence,it's a delicious journey. The recipes are user-friendly. Like the Parisian rat Remy, anyone can cook!
