The Subtitle Should Be The Title!

Wow! As a new teacher-in-training this book really shook me to the core. They don't shy away from anything: Gender, Race, High Stakes Testing (very bad according to this), School Vouchers (also very bad), Creationism / Intelligent Design, Dress Codes, Character Education, etc. No stone seems left unturned, no toes not stepped on at least once. The articles are well written and discussion questions are given before each chapter and article. I think it should become a standard textbook for new teachers because it really gives you an honest, not always optimistic view from the trenches of American Schools. I think parents should also read it to see what school is really like in this day and age. A book for class I looked forward to reading.
